Ståle Valvatne Einarsen is Full Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Bergen in Norway and one of the pioneers of research in workplace bullying and harassment as well as destructive forms of leadership.
Einarsen published his first book and his first international empirical paper on workplace bullying in 1994. Since then, he has published some 180 international scientific articles and some 50 book chapters on issues related to both health and well-being outcomes and implications for clinical treatment, yet also on risk-factors and antecedents in individuals, in the psychosocial working environment, and in organizations.
He has authored and edited a number of books these issues and is today the world’s most cited researcher in the field of bullying and harassment in working life. In 2019, he received the Norwegian Psychological Society´s Innovation Award for his work in developing practical methods to prevent and deal with bullying and harassment.
In 2020, he was appointed a fellow and an honorary member of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology, and since 2020 he has been on Stanford University’s list of the most influential researchers in the world. In 2008 he chaired and led the foundation of the International Association on Workplace Bullying and Harassment, which hosts a bi-annual conference that includes both researchers and practitioners from all corners of the world.
